Fortis utility Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp. hosted its 11th Annual Solar-Plus Summit on March 4, 2021. It was held on-line with representatives from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, Mitsubishi Electric and the City University of New York. The summit provided an opportunity for the more than 100 solar developers, professionals, and stakeholders to discuss the direction of the industry and how to provide the best outcome for customers and the environment. Topics included the process for solar interconnections, advancing electric vehicles and developments in battery storage.

New York State has adopted climate goals that are among the most ambitious in the nation, and energy efficiency programs and solar integration by Central Hudson are important initiatives in reducing emissions within the Mid-Hudson Valley in support of these goals. The utility’s service area is one of the most active regions in New York State for solar power installations on a per capita basis. Today, there are more than 10,000 solar and paired storage installations within Central Hudson’s footprint with a capacity of 162 MW.
