Teamwork and Tenacity
In the Fall of 2022, three of our 10 utilities spanning the Caribbean to Atlantic Canada were hit by one of the strongest storms in Canadian history. Hurricane Fiona swept homes out to sea on the west coast of Newfoundland and caused extensive damage on Prince Edward Island, causing power outages for nearly every customer of Maritime Electric. We are grateful for our response teams who worked tirelessly to restore power as safely and quickly as possible – it was a true Fortis team effort.
We also thank our customers for their assistance and patience as we repaired the damage.
We are likely to have more frequent and severe weather events in the future, making our responsibility to provide resilient systems and reliable energy service more important than ever.
